Aloha everyone! My name is Laz and I wanted to reach out about positions that are opening up at the company that I work for. I teach online as my full-time job and I have never wanted to go back to my old job as a middle school teacher. So when they told me to ask around for more teachers, I thought about the educational workers of Hawaii and the cost of living, so here I am!

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in ANY field, not just education.
Experience working with children.

Job Description:
$17-22 per hour starting, with a possible raise every year.
Guiding Chinese children through powerpoint slides for 25 minutes at a time.
fully on-line
You will likely teach at night because of the time difference between Hawaii and China.

"The Rookie" on ABC

Been watching the TV series The Rookie on the ABC network which started in the fall of 2018.

While the main character played by Nathan Fillion is a 40 year old rookie police officer in the Los Angeles Police Department, the series does focus from time to time on 2 of his fellow rookies and their assigned training officers as they patrol the streets of Los Angeles.

Cold Pursuit

Saw the movie Cold Pursuit sometime in either late February of early March 2019 at the Ward Theater.

The movie is about a snow plow driver in some small town in Colorado that takes revenge on a gang of drug dealers who killed his son. This escalates when the head drug dealer thinks it is another gang who are killing off his guys and starts killing off a member of that other gang. Then of course that second gang starts killing off more of the first gang.

Oddly enough this movie has some dark humor to it and has a routine such that when a character dies there is a brief black card with the character's name and religious symbol for that character's faith.

Part of me wants to say if the Varsity Theater was still around this movie would have played there.

Saw the movie Captain Marvel at the Ward Theater in early March 2019.

The movie tells the story of how an Air Force pilot named Carol Danvers became a superhero during the mid-1990. We also get to see a younger Nick Fury and Agent Phil Coulson from SHIELD.

The war period of Hawaii questions

I was reading this. So the first settlers in Hawaii came from Micronesia. Once arrived, they lived pretty much alone for 1,000 years. Then a group from Tahiti arrived at the Big Island. They were war-like and changed many of the Hawaiian customs. And introduce some new concepts such as Mana.


My questions are:


1. Was it one group of Micronesian? And then the population multiplied? Or was there a lot of back and forth travels? And was it a kept secret where Hawaii was located at? And that's why they were left "alone" for 1,000 years?

2. Why did this group from Tahiti decided to sail for Hawaii? How did they find out where Hawaii was? Why did they want to come to this new land? What was their purpose? Did they get chased out of Tahiti?

3. Could Kamehameha be Tahitian? Capt Cook's writings spelled Kamehameha Tama'a ma'a (or something like that). He had the warrior traits from the start, was a good fighter, warrior, used strategy, etc.
